United Healthcare - Cancelling Silver Sneakers for OHIO 2019
We received the notice of increased rates a few weeks ago. Yesterday we received the notification of Cancellation of Silver Sneaker fitness program for all of Ohio for 2019.
This eliminates our local Rec Center and offers minimal locations where you basically work out on machines. Silver Sneakers is an excellent program. it offers exercise classes geared to seniors and the Rec Centers offer opportunities for seniors to socialize and interact. Machines offer no human interaction.
The elimination of Silver Sneakers also reduced options of locations. Socializing is important, we have a number of widows and widowers that come to exercise classes.
One tells me she dreads the weekend, classes are for the most part during the week. We are very disappointed by this decision and intend to pursue other plans.
Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.
Preferred solution: Reinstate Silver Sneakers.
United Healthcare Cons: Cancellation of silver sneakers & increase in rates.
Location: 3608 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44114, USA

UHC pulled the rug out from us when they no longer offered the Silver Sneakers program. They also raised the co-pay significantly for outpatient surgery.I need a colonoscopy and cataract surgery.I switched insurance for 2019 after going through an insurance broker.I now have insurance with Anthem which has the Silver Sneaker program and lower outpatient surgery co-pay.I am retired on SS.
re-instate the Silver Sneakers program in Michigan. So upset with UHC and did not find out about this until I went to the gym and my card did not work!!!
I totally agree - I am upset with the cancellation of silver sneakers program in Michigan. I definitely will cancel United Healthcare and go with another medicare provider, during open enrollment. I was shocked about this - especially when I never received a notification that they were going to cancel this.
my great insurance provider has no open enrollment. It's open enrollment all year long.
I found out I'm eligible to join my new insurance provider anytime I want. I called UHC and told them I was disenrolling in the middle of the month. They said they had to cover me until the end of the month anyway. April 30 the was my last day with United healthcare.
May 1st i started my great pay nothing insurance company. $150.00 a month. That's all I pay each month. Zero co-pays, zero deductibles 100% prescription medication coverage, Dental, vision, any specialist I want.
There is no other payments. My card says "member cannot be charged ER, deductibles, co-pays on and on.
The insurance company with empathy, caring, warm and happy reps. A Godsend.
Reinstall Silver Sneakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Silver sneakers is the best so united healthcare do the right thing and included in all your policies
