I don't know how these people sleep at night. My Dr.
ordered an MRI for me due to rapidly rising PSA scores and the prospect of prostate cancer. Normally, they would do a biopsy first, but I cannot have a biopsy as I was recently placed on blood thinners. UHC denied my claim. We appealed that claim, giving them the explanation above.
There are two ways to appeal a denied claim at UHC: 1 - normal appeal which takes around 180 days (really????) and 2 - an expedited appeal, which takes around 80 days. We requested the expedited appeal - which of course they denied. Here's the kicker: I'm 64 years old and will be going onto medicare in about 5 months and I've already reached my out-of-pocket limit for the year due to other health problems. So - of course they will put this off as long as they can since this test would come out of their pockets.
In the meantime, I continue to pay my ridiculous premium while cancer may be spreading inside me.
