I work for a health provider and can no longer "take" United Healthcare outsourcing to India!

Their inefficiency is wasting time and money! You cannot even get through to a person you can understand, for one.

Today, I had to call the provider/customer service 4 times, and never even got my important question answered because was disconnected all 4 times!

I have a toll free number which connects you to someone in the United States, but they are instructed to transfer you back to 1-877-84*-321, which gets you the rude and clueless people, over seas. Not fun at all.

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

just had the pleasure of speaking with "jack" at UHC India. i to this day cannot understand the accent and continually have to ask them to repeat.

I've hated this for years, and still do. UHC should bring their business back to the USA; to help employ these citizens instead of employing India.

I just got laid off permanently because they outsourced 45% of our department. I can't find a job and unemployment is only $330 weekly.

I was a 2+ year employee.

I'm the only breadwinner in our family. Now I won't have health insurance either.

uhh is a horrible company

I work for UHC and have to coordinate activity with the outsourced employees in the Philippines and in India. Constantly having to fix things they have messed up.

In general they have no knowledge of Medicare rules and regulations. Erroneous information being given out. And the US physicians are always complaining to us about the language problems. Frankly it's embarrassing.

UHC claims to be this caring corporation that puts members first. What a joke.

It's all about the almighty buck.

I have worked for United Healthcare for many years but will soon be out of a job. The reason-- outsourcing to India to save money.

It doesn't matter if the India people don't even know what a medical claim looks like as long as United can pay them less money. If that's not bad enough, I am expected to train the people who are taking my job. If I refuse, I will be fired and loose severance and unemployment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This company is constantly pushing that they are "compasionate and ethical".

Anyone who believes that is a fool.

Don't call UHC if you don't have to. The foreign reps read directly verbatim from the benefits or claims script and cannot help you with the more complicated questions.

Please don't tell me your name is Bob or Nancy.

I have enough intelligence to hear the foreign accident. UHC has done the American public a great disservice by putting people out of work for inferior customer service.

1. Where do insurance companies get off thinking they can practice medicine. I guess we don't need doctors because the insurance companies know what you need.

2. Why are bills so high because doctors have to spend 30 min on some automated phone call only to be cut off or connected to some *** who thinks they know medicine but barely made it out of high school. The another 30 min. documenting the care they have extended to the patient (the way the insurance company wants them to write it) never mind whether or not the patient was taken care of in a safe manner.

3. Insurance Companies operate at a 400% profit.

4. Insurance companies make deals with pharmaceutical companies to pay for a certain drug over another drug if they give them to the insurance company at a better discount. Never mind whether or not it is the most appropriate drug for the patient.

5. I had an insurance person for UHC tell me that my patient had to take NSAIDs before getting Celebrex after I told them that she was allergic to NSAIDs the lackey on the phone said well she has to have a trial period before we can approve Celebrex.

You want better healthcare, healthcare reform. Regulate the insurance companies. A good question to ask yourself is why is this not being done. Why? they are in the politician's back pocket.

Just so you know if the doctor charges you 100.00 he probably sees. 40.00 and of that he pays his staff orders medical supplies and pays for his malpractice insurance.

I started medical billing about 1 yr ago,,and have dealt w/ claim rejections,,I think its messed up how they outsource jobs to people you cant even understand on the phone.I am not blaming the people they hire, they probally need jobs too. But ,what I have mostly relized is how INSANE the entire system is in america.

It is way too complex, and something needs to change .!! its been a disturbing experience,,I do not working in billing any longer as thier are not many jobs out there....

I am really very sorry, and I apologise if someone gets hurt by my responce, but this is truth.

I work for UHC as outsourced employee in INDIA. we know very well how UHC works, its a best company.

But no one talks about DOCTORS , that how they treat their Patients without knowing their benefit plans.

Assistants from doctors office are always in hurry, ther never listen complete benefit plan of the patient. They bill incorrect and incomplete information and when claims get denied they starts CURSING UHC. Mostly doctors bills for those services that are not covered by the patients plan. Then please decide who is horrible UHC or the DOCTORS.

I am an outsourced employee of UHC,in INDIA.

Doctors may feel that even after wasting 30 min on call, providers did not get satisfied because they want their claims to be paid, even if they do not have proper medical notes, proper Notification.

Your comments have been helpful. My employer is switching our insurance to UHC and after reading a lot the reviews online I plan to switch to Kaiser.

Well, there is now no way a doctor's office in the Pgh., Pa. area can get anyone from the U.S.A. Even if you do, they say they can't take the call, & foward it to India.

Also, the merger between Unison & United Healthcare is a NIGHT MARE! I hope they get the "bugs" worked out, but as of now, no one there, seems to know how to do their job correctly. VERY frustrating, when trying to get claims paid for by that insurance plan.

United Healthcare & Aetna are the worst insurances to work with, in Pittsburgh.

sorry your particular plan lines you up with India folks...I work in NY and many many times the people who call me are happy they got an American on the line who can not only answer their questions, but also build proper rapport with them. However, there are specialized departments for each plan we offer, and it just so happens that your plan has a team in India. Just know that all of UHC is not outsourced.
